Same Same, But Different...

The Bujinkan New York Dojo (BNYD) founded this site in 1999 as a way of sharing our passion for the Bujinkan martial arts. Commonly known as Ninpo taijutsu or ninjutsu, the name was changed in the 1990s to Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu as a way to place emphasis on the fact that our arts are both Samurai and Ninja based (rather than just the latter). From June 1996 to March 1999, we offered info through our "mu-sha-shin" (Warrior heart) site at "www.geocities.com/bnyd." That site ceased in 2009 when Geocities closed down. We chose, KIHON.com (Kihon, Japanese for "foundation" or "basics") as our web site name because it was a good place to start (a good foundation). Shortly thereafter, we began placing Martial arts articles, newsletters and videos up on the site to share with the world. And around that same time, Kihon Press (our publication branch) was born.
